Hi there – I’m Shelley.
I’m a wife, a mom, and a work-in-progress. And this is where I write about the complex yet beautiful experience of raising strong, courageous daughters.
I help moms overcome uncertainty so they can raise confident and courageous girls. I believe that as moms of daughters, we can empower our girls to be themselves and raise them in a way that fills in the gaps from our own childhoods.
Let’s face it. We are messy humans with messy past experiences. Those experiences influence the way we parent. So it’s up to us, moms, to change those patterns of negative behavior and mindset that impact what our daughters believe about themselves.
But making those changes? It’s not always easy.
Think back to the relationship you had with your mom growing up.
Was it challenging? Did the two of you struggle? Were you told you were “enough?” Were you encouraged to be your authentic self? Were you empowered?
If you had a hard relationship with your mom, or if you weren’t taught self-care, balance, and self-worth, my guess is that your mom just didn’t know how to do that. Maybe she simply didn’t have that insight or those skills because no one taught her.
No mom is perfect. And I believe our moms did their best. But as Maya Angelou said, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
So if you’re here reading this, it’s probably because you realize there is a better way. We don’t have to live the same story and accept the same narrative.
Moms, we can know better and do better for our daughters. We can break the cycle of negative patterns and limited thinking. We can breathe, reboot, and raise our daughters differently.
Whether you’re a mom of one daughter or several, I’m here to support you and cheer you on in fostering a healthy mother-daughter relationship and teaching your daughter that not only is she mighty, but she is enough!
I’m so glad you’re here!
